| Inboard Engine Installation Diagram, Side View |
Terry Steller, an Ericson 25 owner from Michigan, recently sent me a high resolution copy of the original blueprint for the installation of an inboard engine on the E25. This blueprint conveyed with the boat at the time of purchase. Terry took the blueprint to an office supply store and had them scan it and save it as a PDF. I converted this PDF to a PNG and then cropped it in a variety of ways in order to provide as many detailed views as possible. The original blueprint contained two separate views for the installation of the engine: an overhead view and a side view. It also contained a drawing of the engine itself, along with some specifications. Below we see the complete view of the blueprint. As is the case with all images on this website, if you would like a view the image in greater detail, simply click on it.
Now let's take a look at the upper half of the blueprint: the one that contains the drawing of the engine and the overhead view of the cockpit and lazarette of the boat.

Now we are obviously looking at the drawing of the engine.
Here we see a close-up of the port side of the cockpit and lazarette. Note that the drawing calls for the installation of the fuel tank in the lazarette, just beneath the cockpit locker.
Below we are looking at the starboard side of the cockpit and lazarette. Note that the diagram calls for the battery box to be located in the lazarette, just beneath the cockpit locker.
The view below is of the center of the diagram. Here we are looking at the engine, occupying the center of the lazarette. To the right we see the companionway ladder.
This is a close-up of the engine itself, as seen from overhead.
Now let's look at the bottom portion of the blueprint - the one that depicts the cockpit and lazarette when viewed from the side.
Here's a closer view. Note that the writing at the bottom indicates that the installation calls for a Volvo Penta MB 10A.
Below we have an even closer view. Note that at this scale it's possible to see some of the specifications regarding the clearance for the propeller.
